Kruse and Dick immediately started pointing fingers are certain bloggers. So I don't see how the paleo people are the assholes, here.

Frankly, the whole LC/paleo blogoshpere completely jumped the shark for me when certain people seemed to take Kruse at all seriously. Injecting himself with MRSA? Really? And the whole community didn't immediately laugh him out of existence? That pretty much tells me all I need to know.

What happened to him was fucked up, no question, but let's not blame people who weren't directly involved.

Re: The Kruse cruise, cold, and carbs

I can't even imagine the stress and horror of being hauled off a cruise ship to be questioned by the Department of Homeland Security. Good grief! Who can say how they'd react or behave after such a thing happening? I've read all the aftermath and don't want to speak to that but would like to say that I've employed three of Dr. Kruse's suggestions and I'm losing weight again. Heck, it could be a coincidence but looking at the weight loss graph in FitDay, it seems like a direct cause and effect.

Re: The Kruse cruise, cold, and carbs

I'm not a big follower of Dr. Kruse's and have found his blogs on CT almost incoherent. But even I felt sympathetic after he was so rudely dismissed from the cruise. His post-Kruse-gate behavior, though, quickly eroded my sympathy. You may not have been aware of all of his antics, such as his "twat"-filled post on Richard Nikoley's blog, his I'm-not-naming-names-but-I'm-going-to-imply-them-as-clearly-as-possible attitude, his false claims to have tracked down the "perpetrators" to NY, Boston, and Chicago, etc. After recognizing his poor judgment (or on the advice of counsel), Dr. Kruse deleted some of his most offensive statements. Not soon enough, I'm afraid. Plenty of people saw them and were appalled (and there are an abundance of screenshots of his most ridiculous Kruse-gate-related statements circulating around the internet--my god, where is SKS when you need her/him/them/it?) In the first couple days after this incident, it seemed like Dr. Kruse was going to emerge relatively unscathed--he got lots of attention, sympathy, and, no doubt, blog hits. But after he unleashed a seemingly endless stream of falsehoods, exaggerations, and accusations, he's the one with egg on his face.

Re: The Kruse cruise, cold, and carbs

I have talked about K2 extensively on the blog and in my forums. It is and has been part of the Leptin Rx reset and CT......Right now I am explaining why people are fat cant get back to optimal on just a low carb diet alone.......I am saying CT is Maother Nature's plastic surgeon.......and K2 plays a supporting role......when you eat a ketogeic paleo diet.......it should have foods that support K2 in it.......sadly in todays modern world we dont have foods that contain much K2 in it. We also are using drugs (coumadin) that deplete K. K2 plays a role in this because of the co evolution of the shortening of our gut and the development of our gut microbiota.......that requires K2. In my next monster series on the gut......I will link these two together. I have not gotten to it yet because I am in the middle of CT series and it seems to have hit a major nerve. I would not say I have left anything out. I would say that I just have not gotten to it yet.

Re: Need more protein!

It looks like the stuff between the eggs and caviar is some sort of pate...

Re: I caught you, you little bastard.

Grats!
All taxation is theft. And the reason corporations are leaving this country is because we have the highest corporate tax rate in the world. Of course, corporations do not pay taxes anyway...this comes out of salaries and prices of goods, but that can only go so far until companies start leaving.

The state is violence. Both parties suck. Don't vote. Don't waste your time with it and don't waste my time with it on your health blog.....of course, it is your blog.

Now....just curious. Why is it you are stuck at 200? Are you not as disciplined as you could be, or are there metabolic issues you have going on? I went from 223 to 195 on a low carb diet and am also stuck. I'm 6'0", so I'm really happy at 195, but I know I can get down to 185 and perhaps even 180. For me, I know exactly what it is. Discipline. Let me know if you want to knock around some ideas.

Re: Saturday stats, 5 May 2012

You had to bring up politics and I have to rant!

Either party is the same bunch of corporate bought-off ***holes. I really hoped Obama was the honest and different politician as he campaigned he was during the last election. Here's a quote by Obama from the 2008 2nd presidential debate,

"But most importantly, we're going to have to help ordinary families be able to stay in their homes, make sure that they can pay their bills, deal with critical issues like health care and energy, and we're going to have to change the culture in Washington so that lobbyists and special interests aren't driving the process and your voices aren't being drowned out"

In my opinion, any program he came up with to address mortgages, healthcare, energy or lobbyists, was always done in a way that benefits special interests who always drive the process. Go back and listen to his campaign promises from 2008. How many did he accomplish or even try to accomplish? I, for one, won't believe anything he (or any other big money politician) says ever again. Vote the "American Way" - vote for the lesser of two evils - doesn't seem like a solution to me. Politics is a farce. Big money has to be removed from Wash DC before politicians will start representing the people. Like that will ever happen. (Rant Off!)

Side note - I'm rooting for your success to onederland. You'll get there!

Re: If I had a Dumbass Award, I’d be handing it out. The second I eat carbs it starts coming right back. I lost 40 lbs on Atkins about 15 years ago-I don't know why it won't work this time unless it is that old age crap slow metabolism. I'm trying eating very little and NO wheat to see what happens. (wheat makes me feel bad) I wish atkins would work this time. The weight just dropped off when I was younger. Good luck and curse/cuss whenever you feel the need. It's not that I can't eat it but if I have too much (cheese/cream) I tend to drop the weight much more slowly and even stall. About the body parts, it's been my experience that when I would manage to do a low fat diet, my chest would nearly disappear but with low carb, not much at all. Maybe it's really all about individual experience and it would be interesting to see what other women have noticed.

Re: Saturday stats, 21 April 2012

Change your diet its not a long-term solution. Look at Jimmy Moore a big figurehead for low carb and a guy who lets every schmuck talk on his podcast. Notice Jimmy is back to gross fat and trying all the crap that the schmuck's talk about on his show? Low carb and Paleo has some good ideas, but its not the end all when it comes to health.

Sure you will get some good initial results, but then the stalls come and the weight gains and losses and gains and losses, just like any other diet. The same thing that is happening to Jimmy on low carb is the same thing that happened to him on low fat. Bottom line is us tubbies like to eat and weight will always be a struggle. How many re-dedications have you gone through? How many times have you nitpicked certain foods thinking it will change the long-term goal? Go on Facebook's Fat Head group and observe what people do and don't say, it's just like any other diet and people have the same problems. Unfortunately a lot of pseudoscience is passed off as fact and people run with ideas and treat them as gospel.

I think its funny to watch the low carb/Paleo community have the same anti establishment as the vegan/vegetarian group. They accuse the vegans for the very same things they are guilty of. I don't know how many times I read the paleo group talk about how we need government legislation in regards to diet and that their way of eating is how everyone should eat. Oh and lets not forget the "us vs. the man" attitude that prevails...just like the vegans.

You have a catchy slogan, you should try it sometime.

Round and round and round it goes, where it stops no one knows.

Good part is constipation went away. Bad part - no weight loss, not one pound. Also, blood sugars didn't decrease either. Added dairy back in except restricting almost all cheese. Constipation back anyway. I don't have access to raw dairy, so whatever effect that has, so be it. Also, no milk as I haven't drank that for years. Of course, your results can be entirely different. I have 7 pounds to go from "obese" BMI to "overweight". It's an entirely silly goal considering the other obstacles in my life, but I need this to happen. I've lost about 10 lbs. in the last two years. Fat loss just doesn't happen anymore and it never was too easy to begin with. Hopefully you will find your answer.

Re: Saturday stats, 21 April 2012

So, what I get from what you're saying is that although cream, in and of itself, isn't necessarily putting weight on you, it is having some inflammatory effect that is preventing you from losing weight?

I wonder this myself, because I find that no matter how much I'm working out, if I'm putting cream in my coffee every day, or adding some to my broth to make a creamy soup with my meat, I lag a bit in weight loss. It still happens, but it does seem to slow things.

I'll be interested to see how you come out at the end of this week.

Hard to do without the cream, though. For me it's often one of the things that makes low-carb so satisfying. Coconut cream simply isn't the same....

Re: Photo progress, 14 April 2012

Hey Dana,

I don't want it to be a huge part of my diet, but I like wheat-free soy sauce, so I was bummed out til I realized later that I'd eaten it again and was fine.
